Repsol and Honda extend MotoGP contract until 2018The alliance between the Spanish energy company and the Japanese vehicle manufacturer has been in existence for more than 20 years and is the most successful in MotoGP history, with 12 rider World Championships.Repsol and Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) have extended their sponsorship contract for another year, through to the 31st of December 2018. The alliance between the Spanish energy company and the Japanese vehicle manufacturer, which began in 1995 and has seen them claim 12 rider World Championships together. The collaboration will thus reach its 24th season.Repsol's Director General of Communications and Presidency, Begoña Elices, and HRC Director – General Manager Race Operations Management Division, Tetsuhiro Kuwata, put pen to paper on the extension contract, through which Repsol will continue to be the main sponsor of Honda's factory MotoGP team in the premier class of motorcycle racing. Riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, who have both renewed their contracts with HRC for two years, will continue to represent the most celebrated team in MotoGP history.Repsol and HRC began their journey together in February 1995, in a relationship of trust based on technological development that has led to a perfect combination of rider, motorcycle, fuel and lubricant. These more than two decades have seen the Repsol Honda team achieve 12 individual titles, 151 victories and 392 podiums in 500cc and MotoGP. In addition, they have been proclaimed team champions on by 7 occasions since the award was created in 2002.TeamworkThe partnership between Repsol and Honda goes beyond conventional sports sponsorship and is based on a close relationship between Honda's laboratories in Saitama (Japan) and the Repsol Technology Centre, located in Mostoles (Spain). These more than 20 years of teamwork are an example of a lasting collaboration between two global companies striving for excellence. Repsol and Honda have been able to take full advantage of each others' strengths and achieve a winning formula. The collaboration began in the 1990s with the development of two-stroke engines and fuel, and then took on the challenge of developing the best four-stroke engines and fuels in the world.More than half of the premier class world titles since 1995 have gone to the Repsol Honda team. Champions such as Mick Doohan, Alex Criville, Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez have made this pairing the most recognisable partnership in the World Championship.Tetsuhiro KuwataHRC Director – General Manager Race Operations Management Division

“We are delighted with the renewal of the agreement with our title sponsor Repsol through the end of 2018. This year we celebrated together our 12th MotoGP World Title in 22 years of collaboration, an amazing achievement in the history of the motorcycle World Championship. This record demonstrates the great value of this partnership which, in addition to including a great sponsorship agreement, has also benefitted us with crucial technological development. We are proud to continue working with Repsol through 2018 and hopefully many more years beyond!”

Tetsuhiro KuwataBegona ElicesGeneral Director Communication and Chairman's Office

“We are very proud to be part of this team and to renew an alliance that has borne so much fruit in the fields of sports and technology. We have two exceptional riders in Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, who perfectly represent Repsol's values such as teamwork and the spirit of improvement. High competition is the best incentive to improve as a global company, to research and develop state-of-the-art fuels and lubricants, and to achieve the goals we set for ourselves.”

Wiretap: Romney eats crow, Trump does magic and the old world order comes to an end

Sleight of hands

Donald Trump offers up a little economic magic. On one hand, he makes a big show of convincing Carrier to keep 1,000 jobs in Indiana, with the help of some financial incentives eased along by former Indiana governor Mike Pence. And with the other hand - or maybe even the same one - Trump taps Steven Mnuchin, with his deep roots in Wall Street and at Goldman Sachs, to be his Treasury secretary. Via the New York Times.

***

There's a very large asterisk that accompanies Trump's big win with Carrier. Via the Washington Post.

Gutting healthcare

Yes, Tom Price, Trump's choice for HHS secretary, is well positioned to start gutting Obamacare. But what comes next? If you know Price's radically conservative views on health care, you can expect him to go after Medicare and then Medicaid. Via Politico.

Romney's amnesia

Remember Trump the “phony,” the “fake,” the “con man”? Well, Mitt Romney, who called Trump all these things and more, apparently doesn't. In search of the Secretary of State's job, Romney sat down with Trump for dinner at Trump Tower, munching on a menu of frog legs and crow. Via the Washington Post.

Praising Trump

Here's the video of Romney's apres-dinner comments in praise of the man he hopes to make his boss. Via RedState.

After Fidel

Now that Fidel is gone, what does Trump plan to do about Obama's outreach to Cuba? So far the only things we know are from Trump's opening Tweet salvo. Via the New Yorker.

Big picture

While Democrats worry about figuring out how Hillary Clinton could have lost to Trump and who is to blame, they're missing the bigger picture - what to do next. Via the Huffington Post.

Nancy Pelosi

From the National Review, Democrats have a Nancy Pelosi problem. Isn't it about time they did something about it?

Defending hypocrisy

Who says the media only goes for the negative? Michael Gerson explains why Donald Trump's hypocrisy is actually good for the nation. Via the Washington Post.

Contract law

OK, so maybe you think contract law can be boring. But what about when the contract seems to say that the new president must give up his lease on his new Washington D.C. hotel because he's the president? Via the Atlantic.

End of an era

Ian Buruma asks: In the era of Trump and Brexit, will the old Anglo-American order to the world finally be coming to an end? Via the New York Times magazine.

The Home Front: Meet the 'Hartsel flats settlers'

The Gazette in Colorado springs has a fascinating enterprise feature about the “Hartsel flats settlers,” the eccentric residents who live on that barren stretch of Highway 24 near 11-Mile Reservoir in the miles before the tiny town of Hartsel. The area, where land is cheap and people are scarce, is where the accused Planned Parenthood shooter lived in a trailer on a parcel. “Many of the new residents bought land sight unseen in the sprawling, windswept subdivisions where 5-acre lots go for less than $7,000,” the paper reports. “The properties are hawked on the internet and sold by real estate companies that ask few questions.”

Undocumented students at Colorado State University face an uncertain future under president Donald Trump, reports The Fort Collins Coloradoan. “These children - who must have entered the country before turning 16 and before June 2007 - can apply for protection from deportation and a renewable work permit. President-elect Donald Trump has promised to “immediately terminate” DACA - an action that would have a swift and dramatic impact on about 28,000 DACA applicants in Colorado who have been approved since its inception in 2012. Trump can undo the program because it was enacted via executive action, rather than an act of Congress.”

The Durango Herald reports on a Durango resident who founded the organization Tweet Congress, “a nonpartisan online platform that tracks congressional tweets. It also allows users to find their representatives on Twitter and search for certain topics in tweets, like taxes,” and is now trying to expand internationally.

“A new class sponsored by Northwest Colorado Health is helping to provide local Latino community members with personal health knowledge they may not have,” reports Steamboat Today. “The CHARLAR program, which stands for Community Heart Health Actions for Latinos at Risk, has been around in Denver for several years, according to Erick Ocampo, a community connector for Northwest Colorado Health who is running the program in Steamboat Springs.”

The Longmont Times-Call reports how Boulder County commissioners are considering a plan to phase out the growing of GMO crops on city-owned land. “As of this past Wednesday morning, however, only one person had taken advantage of a county offer for people to sign up in advance, online, to speak at that hearing, according to Gabi Boerkircher, a spokeswoman for the commissioners' office.”

“Bowie Resources LLC is seeking to build a plant to produce synthetic gas from coal waste at its mine near Paonia, a potential opportunity for the company to claw back jobs lost when the mine was idled earlier this year,” reports The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel. “Coal gasification involves producing gas by subjecting coal to heat and pressure rather than burning it directly, the U.S. Department of Energy says on its Office of Fossil Energy website. The gas produced at the Bowie No. 2 Mine would be used to generate either electricity or diesel/fuel oil, according to a permit revision application a contract engineer submitted on behalf of Bowie to the state Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety.”

The Loveland Reporter-Herald reports on how a city planning commission will vote on approval of “a site plan for the new Larimer County building to be located at First Street and Denver Avenue.” The 48,000-square foot county building “will be located on 7.8 acres of land on the northwest corner of East First Street and North Denver Avenue, relocating from its current site in downtown Loveland on Sixth Street.”

A Boulder man and University of Colorado graduate who builds classic arcade games is finding success in nostalgia, reports The Boulder Daily Camera. The generation who grew up with arcade games are eager to pass on their passions, and are just now at the age where they have kids and the resources to do so, he told the paper, creating a perfect set of circumstances for his business to thrive.

The Denver Post reports on a new HOV lane. “In a move that could shift the dynamics of carpools across the Denver metro area, the popular High Occupancy Vehicle rules that let two occupants ride free on Express Lanes through often-congested segments of U.S. 36 and Interstate 25 will require at least one more rider to claim the privilege.”

Afghan National Army Officer Academy

The future leaders of the Afghan National Army are trained and educated at the ANA Officers Academy at Qargha, near Kabul, where more than 1,000 officers, both men and women, graduate every year.

"We in the international community will continue to stand beside you," said Gen. John Nicholson, commander of Resolute Support, when he visited there recently.

The Academy is run in close cooperation with the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, in the United Kingdom, with advisors from both the UK and other coalition nations.

High Speed Video of 60 Years of Global Warming (1950-2013)

This visualization shows how global temperatures have risen from 1950 through the end of 2013. NASA scientists say 2013 tied for the seventh warmest of any year since 1880, continuing a long-term trend of rising global temperatures. With the exception of 1998, the 10 warmest years in the 133-year record all have occurred since 2000, with 2010 and 2005 ranking as the hottest years on record.

NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York, which analyzes global surface temperatures on an ongoing basis, released an updated report Tuesday, Jan. 21, on temperatures around the globe in 2013. The comparison shows how Earth continues to experience warmer temperatures than several decades ago.

The visualization shows a running five-year average global temperature, as compared to a baseline average global temperature from 1951-1980. 21 Jan 2014

It involves a very broad spectrum of emissions, requiring an energy release of up to 6 × 1025 joules of energy (roughly the equivalent of 160,000,000,000 megatons of TNT, over 25,000 times more energy than released from the impact of Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9 with Jupiter). Flares are often, but not always, accompanied by a spectacular coronal mass ejection. The flare ejects clouds of electrons, ions, and atoms through the corona of the sun into space. These clouds typically reach Earth a day or two after the event. The term is also used to refer to similar phenomena in other stars, where the term stellar flare applies.

Solar flares affect all layers of the solar atmosphere (photosphere, chromosphere, and corona), when the plasma medium is heated to tens of millions of Kelvin, while the cosmic-ray-like electrons, protons, and heavier ions are accelerated to near the speed of light. They produce radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum at all wavelengths, from radio waves to gamma rays, although most of the energy is spread over frequencies outside the visual range and for this reason the majority of the flares are not visible to the naked eye and must be observed with special instruments. Flares occur in active regions around sunspots, where intense magnetic fields penetrate the photosphere to link the corona to the solar interior. Flares are powered by the sudden (timescales of minutes to tens of minutes) release of magnetic energy stored in the corona. The same energy releases may produce coronal mass ejections (CME), although the relation between CMEs and flares is still not well established.

X-rays and UV radiation emitted by solar flares can affect Earth's ionosphere and disrupt long-range radio communications. Direct radio emission at decimetric wavelengths may disturb the operation of radars and other devices that use those frequencies.

Solar flares were first observed on the Sun by Richard Christopher Carrington and independently by Richard Hodgson in 1859 as localized visible brightenings of small areas within a sunspot group. Stellar flares can be inferred by looking at the lightcurves produced from the telescope or satellite data of variety of other stars.

The frequency of occurrence of solar flares varies, from several per day when the Sun is particularly "active" to less than one every week when the Sun is "quiet", following the 11-year cycle (the solar cycle). Large flares are less frequent than smaller ones.

On July 23, 2012, a massive, and potentially damaging, solar superstorm (solar flare, coronal mass ejection, solar EMP) barely missed Earth, according to NASA. According to NASA, there may be as much as a 12% chance of a similar event occurring between 2012 and 2022, although because this particular figure was based on an extreme extrapolation of the calculated frequency of future storms, the actual probability of this is almost certainly rather lower than 12 percent.

How does NASA operate the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter?

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) is a NASA robotic spacecraft currently orbiting the Moon in an eccentric polar mapping orbit. The LRO mission is a precursor to future human and robotic missions to the Moon by NASA. To this end a detailed mapping program will identify safe landing sites, locate potential resources on the Moon, characterize the radiation environment, and demonstrate new technology.

The probe will make a 3-D map of the Moon's surface and has provided some of the first images of Apollo equipment left on the Moon. The first images from LRO were published on July 2, 2009, showing a region in the lunar highlands south of Mare Nubium.

Launched on June 18, 2009, in conjunction with the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS), as the vanguard of NASA's Lunar Precursor Robotic Program, this is the first United States mission to the Moon in over ten years. LRO and LCROSS are the first missions launched as part of the United States's Vision for Space Exploration program. The total cost of the mission is reported as US$583 million, of which $504 million pertains to the main LRO probe and $79 million to the LCROSS satellite.

Happy Diwali from President Obama

The President wishes a Happy Diwali to all those who celebrate the
festival of lights (2014).

Diwali (or Deepavali, the "festival of lights") is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn (northern hemisphere) or spring (southern hemisphere) every year. Arguably the most important festival in Hinduism, it is an official holiday in Fiji, Guyana, India, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair Its celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temples and other buildings in the communities and countries where it is observed. The festival preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika. In the Gregorian calendar, Diwali night falls between mid-October and mid-November.

Before Diwali night, people clean, renovate, and decorate their homes and offices. On Diwali night, Hindus dress up in new clothes or their best outfit, light up diyas (lamps and candles) inside and outside their home, participate in family puja (prayers) typically to Lakshmi – the goddess of fertility and prosperity. After puja, fireworks follow, then a family feast including mithai (sweets), and an exchange of gifts between family members and close friends. Deepavali also marks a major shopping period in nations where it is celebrated.

Diwali is an important festival for Hindus. The name of festive days as well as the rituals of Diwali vary significantly among Hindus, based on the region of India. In many parts of India, the festivities start with Dhanteras (in Northern and Western part of India), followed by Naraka Chaturdasi on second day, Deepavali on the third day, Diwali Padva dedicated to wife–husband relationship on the fourth day, and festivities end with Bhau-beej dedicated to sister–brother bond on the fifth day. Dhanteras usually falls eighteen days after Dussehra.

On the same night that Hindus celebrate Diwali, Jains celebrate a festival of lights to mark the attainment of moksha by Mahavira,Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas and some Newar Buddhists also celebrate Diwali remembering Ashoka's conversion to Buddhism.

Hubble Space Telescope: The Hunt for Alien Planets

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a space telescope that was launched into low Earth orbit in 1990, and remains in operation. With a 2.4-meter (7.9 ft) mirror, Hubble's four main instruments observe in the near ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared spectra. The telescope is named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble.

Hubble's orbit outside the distortion of Earth's atmosphere allows it to take extremely high-resolution images with negligible background light. Hubble has recorded some of the most detailed visible-light images ever, allowing a deep view into space and time. Many Hubble observations have led to breakthroughs in astrophysics, such as accurately determining the rate of expansion of the universe.

Although not the first space telescope, Hubble is one of the largest and most versatile, and is well known as both a vital research tool and a public relations boon for astronomy. The HST was built by the United States space agency NASA, with contributions from the European Space Agency, and is operated by the Space Telescope Science Institute. The HST is one of NASA's Great Observatories, along with the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, the Chandra X-ray Observatory, and the Spitzer Space Telescope.

Space telescopes were proposed as early as 1923. Hubble was funded in the 1970s, with a proposed launch in 1983, but the project was beset by technical delays, budget problems, and the Challenger disaster (1986). When finally launched in 1990, Hubble's main mirror was found to have been ground incorrectly, compromising the telescope's capabilities. The optics were corrected to their intended quality by a servicing mission in 1993.

Hubble is the only telescope designed to be serviced in space by astronauts. After launch by Space Shuttle Discovery in 1990, four subsequent Space Shuttle missions repaired, upgraded, and replaced systems on the telescope. A fifth mission was canceled on safety grounds following the Columbia disaster (2003). However, after spirited public discussion, NASA administrator Mike Griffin approved one final servicing mission, completed in 2009. The telescope is still operating as of 2016, and may last until 2030–2040. Its scientific successor, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), is scheduled for launch in 2018.

How Carbon Dioxide Travels Around the Globe

An ultra-high-resolution NASA computer model has given scientists a stunning new look at how carbon dioxide in the atmosphere travels around the globe.

Plumes of carbon dioxide in the simulation swirl and shift as winds disperse the greenhouse gas away from its sources. The simulation also illustrates differences in carbon dioxide levels in the northern and southern hemispheres and distinct swings in global carbon dioxide concentrations as the growth cycle of plants and trees changes with the seasons.

The carbon dioxide visualization was produced by a computer model called GEOS-5, created by scientists at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Global Modeling and Assimilation Office.

The visualization is a product of a simulation called a “Nature Run.” The Nature Run ingests real data on atmospheric conditions and the emission of greenhouse gases and both natural and man-made particulates. The model is then left to run on its own and simulate the natural behavior of the Earth's atmosphere. This Nature Run simulates January 2006 through December 2006.

While Goddard scientists worked with a “beta” version of the Nature Run internally for several years, they released this updated, improved version to the scientific community for the first time in the fall of 2014.

Happy Labor Day from the President (Aug 2014)

In this week's address, the President wished Americans a Happy Labor Day weekend, highlighted the important economic progress we've made, and reaffirmed his commitment to accelerate our progress and ensure that our growing economy fuels a strong middle class. 30 Aug 2014

Labor Day in the United States is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the country. It is the Monday of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend and it is considered the unofficial end of summer.

Beginning in the late 19th century, as the trade union and labor movements grew, trade unionists proposed that a day be set aside to celebrate labor. "Labor Day" was promoted by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor, which organized the first parade in New York City. In 1887, Oregon was the first state of the United States to make it an official public holiday. By the time it became an official federal holiday in 1894, thirty U.S. states officially celebrated Labor Day.

Canada's Labour Day is also celebrated on the first Monday of September. More than 80 countries celebrate International Workers' Day on May 1 – the ancient European holiday of May Day – and several countries have chosen their own dates for Labour Day.

Health Care Technology: Smart Apps & Gadgets

Julian Goldman, a physician at Mass General Hospital, knows better than most the frustrations that doctors face when they're confronted with computer systems and devices that just won't communicate with each other.

His lab has been a pioneer in developing open source tools and standards designed to integrate the various technologies used in homes and hospitals. The effort, in turn, led to the development of a community of likeminded researchers and manufacturers that would like to break barriers in health care through better information exchange, better communication among medical devices and electronic health records, and ultimately through smart apps designed to improve patient safety and decrease the cost of health care. 1 Aug 2014

How to explore Exoplanets?

Since the early 1990's, astronomers have known that extrasolar planets, or "exoplanets," orbit stars light-years beyond our own solar system. Although most exoplanets are too distant to be directly imaged, detailed studies have been made of their size, composition, and even atmospheric makeup - but how? By observing periodic variations in the parent star's brightness and color, astronomers can indirectly determine an exoplanet's distance from its star, its size, and its mass. But to truly understand an exoplanet astronomers must study its atmosphere, and they do so by splitting apart the parent star's light during a planetary transit. 3 Dec 2013

Hot Vision: Thermal Sensors of Boas, Python & Vipers

With National Science Foundation- (NSF) support, biologist Michael Grace and his team study infrared (thermal) sensors in snakes. The goal of this research is to determine the mechanisms underlying predatory and defensive behavior guided by these
extraordinarily novel sensors in snakes. Pit vipers, pythons and boas possess special organs that form images in the brain of the thermal environment, much like vision occurs in the human brain. Thus, these snakes "see" heat, and this amazing system is the most sensitive infrared detector on Earth, natural or artificial. A better understanding of infrared-based thermal imaging in snakes is important not only for understanding complex behavior in these highly efficient predators, but also for understanding the evolution of imaging sensors and the behaviors they support in other animals including people.

"Results from this research could have downstream applications for defense, as well as wildlife management," notes Michelle Elekonich, one of the program directors in the Animal Behavior program within the NSF Directorate for Biological Sciences. "This project cleverly uses behavioral and other tests that allow the snakes to tell us about the capabilities and limits of their heat-sensing receptors, and how they use them. Knowing more about how snakes use this sensory capability is useful for managing invasive species. And, it's certainly helpful for designing new biologically inspired devices."

The Grace laboratory at the Florida Institute of Technology is researching the mechanisms of infrared imaging by rattlesnakes and pythons, using molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology and behavior. This research will identify the molecular and cellular mechanisms of high-sensitivity thermo-reception, and will provide an exciting new motivation-based behavioral assessment of sensory function. This work will advance the development of artificial sensor technologies for industrial, defense, and biomedical applications. It will also provide new insight into the ecology and management of native and invasive species including the diamondback rattlesnake (a pit viper) and the Burmese python, an invasive mega-predator now firmly established in south Florida and capable of spreading across the southern United States. 30 May 2013.

Hominid Diet: What did our ancestors eat?

With funding from the National Science Foundation, Peter Ungar is revealing more details about the lives of our human ancestors, and he's doing it through dentistry -- sort of! The University of Arkansas anthropologist uses high tech dental scans to find out more about the diets of hominids, a technique that sometimes leads to new and very different conclusions. While anthropologists traditionally determine the diets of our ancestors by examining the size and shape of teeth and jaws, Ungar's powerful microscopes paint a more detailed picture by looking at wear patterns on teeth. And, sometimes what the teeth and jaws are built for is not always the preferred diet. A present day analogy is gorillas. Their teeth and jaws are built to eat hard, crunchy leaves and sticks. But when it is available, gorillas always prefer soft, tastier fruits, which they eat much of the time. Yet when fruit is scarce, their teeth and jaws are still tough enough to eat those leaves and sticks, so their anatomy, just like that of our ancestors, is built for kind of a "worst case scenario" when it comes to food availability. Ungar, who has also helped develop some of his specialized equipment, has now amassed hundreds of dental casts created from remains found in Africa, Australia, Asia, and Sumatra. 13 April 2011

Happy Thanksgiving from President Obama!

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is an important public holiday, celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States. It originated as a harvest festival. Thanksgiving has been celebrated nationally on and off since 1789, after a proclamation by George Washington. It has been celebrated as a federal holiday every year since 1863, when, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens," to be celebrated on the last Thursday in November. Together with Christmas and the New Year, Thanksgiving is a part of the broader holiday season.

The event that Americans commonly call the "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in 1621.This feast lasted three days, and - as accounted by attendee Edward Winslow. - it was attended by 90 Native Americans and 53 Pilgrims. The New England colonists were accustomed to regularly celebrating "thanksgivings"-days of prayer thanking God for blessings such as military victory or the end of a drought.

You'll discover that you'll get far better outcomes with your video marketing.

Suzuki to defend ArenaCross Title

Thomas Ramette, the 2015 and 2016 Arenacross Pro Champion, has confirmed he and SR75 World Team Suzuki will return to AX in 2017 with a single-minded determination to once again lift the coveted AX Pro crown.

Whilst undoubtedly the most successful Pro racer and team in the four-year history of the ultra-competitive UK-based race series, Ramette and SR75 will be up against some stiff opposition next year. Both preceding Arenacross champions Adam Chatfield and Fabien Izoird are already signed up and chomping at the bit to get out on track to secure points, and a share of the significant prize fund. However, Ramette may have a slight advantage in that he is the only former series winner to return with the same manufacturer, team-mate and team set-up.

Ramette's smooth style and determined attitude served him well in the closely-contested, and often controversial, 2016 series, particularly as it reached the climax in London. He set out his stall at the opening round in Manchester back in January with an Arenacross racing masterclass to secure the first win of the year, and then went on to take a further four Main Event outright wins. Of the 11-round championship, the Suzuki pairing of Ramette and team-mate Cyrille Coulon enjoyed 10 podium finishes, confirming SR75 Suzuki as undisputed back-to-back Team Champions in the process.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Ramette kept himself pretty busy once the AX dust settled. Immediately after the final leg at Wembley, he jetted out to America to tackle the East Coast rounds of the gruelling AMA Supercross, prior to returning to Europe to contest, and win, a number of high-profile indoor and outdoor Supercross events. In the latest chapter of the Ramette success story, the likeable 25-year-old Frenchman was crowned King of Stockholm SX at the beginning of October, ahead of fast-charging Arenacross regulars Angelo Pellegrini, Jack Brunell, Izoird, Flo Richier and Matt Bayliss and, more recently, he added the King of Poland SX award to his bulging trophy cabinet.

Looking ahead to the 2017 Arenacross Tour, Ramette said; “It is cool to return to the series. I have had an amazing couple of years with my awesome SR75 Suzuki team and I look forward to getting back to the UK and the cool line-up of Arenas where we have enjoyed so many successful nights racing in front of the amazing UK race fans. Coming back to look for the 'threepeat' is something special and I do this with the professional respect it deserves. I will give it my all while having fun with some good racing and great pro class competition.”

Coulon said: “This series is a big favourite for me. I like the race and the track style sometimes suits my experience. I've had a great year with my SR75 Suzuki Team and I like to make good racing for UK fans with many great riders in this series.”

Delighted to continue with the winning partnership, Rob Cooper, Suzuki GB's Marketing Manager added; “Ever since winning this year's Arenacross Championship we fully expected to return in 2017 to defend the title with Geoff Walker and the SR75 Suzuki team. Last year was one of the most entertaining and explosive Arenacross tours the series has ever seen. It provided a great spectacle for the crowds and it was great to be a part of the show, and even better to come away having successfully defended the championship with Thomas Ramette. It was also fantastic to clinch the team championship for a second year in a row. Geoff puts together an extremely professional outfit, and in both Ramette and Cyrille Coulon we have two riders capable of fighting for the title again this year, and hopefully they can help deliver another team championship for Suzuki and the RM-Z450.”

With the return of all former Pro champs and a heady line-up of British Motocross talent, the 2017 Arenacross Tour promises to be intense. It all kicks off on Saturday January 7th at the Manchester Arena and will then travel to Glasgow, Birmingham, Belfast, Sheffield and London.

Why is the US Green party so irrelevant - why are Greens irrelevant in the America

With Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both viewed negatively by a majority of Americans, why have no third-party candidates emerged as alternatives? Part of it certainly goes to the poor quality of the candidates on offer, but there are also deeper structural reasons.

U.S. Greens have won only a handful of state-level races, and have never won a congressional seat. Their greatest success came in 2000, when Ralph Nader and Winona LaDuke won 2.7 percent of the popular vote in the presidential election. In contrast, West German Greens formed a national political party in 1980 and gained support in local, state and federal competitions. Joschka Fischer, one of the first Greens elected to Germany's Bundestag, served as the nation's foreign minister and vice chancellor from 1998-2005.

There is no easy way for the U.S. Green Party to emulate its German counterparts. Because the American political system makes it difficult for third parties to participate, Green Party candidates do not have opportunities to learn the trade of politics. They have remained activists who are true to their base instead of developing policy positions that would appeal to a broader audience. By doing so, they weaken their chances of winning major races even in liberal strongholds.

As a result, green ideas enter American political debates only when Democrats and Republicans take up these issues. It is telling that major U.S. environmental groups started endorsing Clinton even before she had clinched the Democratic presidential nomination over Bernie Sanders, who took more aggressive positions on some environmental and energy issues during their primary contest. And although Sanders identifies as an environmentalist, he sought the Democratic Party nomination instead of running as the Green Party candidate.

This suggests that running on a third-party ticket in the United States is still not a winning route to shaping a message aimed at a broad electorate. Instead, climate change, dwindling energy resources and growing human and economic costs from natural disasters will do more to promote ecological consciousness and political change in mainstream America than the radical rhetoric of the U.S. Green Party.

Is the market ready to crash?

READ THE WHOLE STORY HERE: http://www.thecherrycreeknews.com/is-the-market-ready-to-crash
https://youtu.be/GukuL555KH0

There is something about the way humans are hard-wired - our brains seek to find patterns where none exist.

And for some reason, our brains need order and predictability.

Now, scientists say patterns please us. They reassure us that life is orderly, even though most of the time it isn't... we hate chaos!

One area where chaos exists - especially on a short-term basis - is the stock market.

I have no doubt that you've heard of “Black Monday” before today... it was a day I'll never forget.

Black Monday Memories...

On October 6, 1987, we had moved all of our clients' money out of the stock market and into money markets. Our indicators were telling us that the stock market was on the verge of a fall.

Thing is, we knew the risk was high, but we didn't know the magnitude!

Then on Friday, the last trading day before the crash, the stock market fell sharply - more than 4% on record volume.

Yet something just didn't sit right, even though we were safely in cash.

On Monday morning, October 19, 1987, at 8:00 a.m., I was driving to my office in New York City. Financial news was still in its infancy back then, so basic updates were only given twice an hour.

By the time the NYSE was open, all global markets were plunging, and the DJIA along with them. The tape was running late and couldn't keep up with the order flow, so by the time the last trade was printed, the stock was already down even further.

It was pure panic... and it hit Wall Street hard.

By the end of the day, the Dow was down a record 508 points, or 22.6% in one day!

For the next few weeks, newspapers ran the price chart of the Dow in October 1987 and overlaid the price charts from the great stock market crash in 1929.

Every day, every wiggle and jiggle on the chart was similar to the 1929 chart - with media pundits calling for another Great Depression.
Look, I want you to forget the fact that the market was completely different in 1929 than it was in 1987 - people wanted to see patterns where none existed!

In fact, newspapers continued to make that comparison, even as the current chart stopped falling and stabilized.

Soon, the comparison to 1929 was dropped, and the primary reason for the sharp decline of the October 1987 crash had little to do with the economy and more to do with a form of “portfolio insurance” that institutional investors used to hedge their portfolios.

Here We Go Again…

Just the other day, an analyst at Citibank overlaid the current chart of the S&P 500 with the chart of the index in 1987... and guess what?

It looked like a perfect copy because history was repeating itself again!

Of course, all sorts of reasons were given for why one should be concerned about the stock market now: concern regarding European banks, a polarizing U.S. election, central banks removing some of the economic stimulus, and recent volatility in gold and oil prices.

But just because the pattern looks similar doesn't mean the stock market is going to crash.

Remember, humans have a need to find patterns in a world of chaos - this is just one of those times.

Instead of wasting time looking for patterns, intelligent investors continue to sift through the stock market and find stocks that are trading for pennies on the dollar.

Is the Market Ready to Crash?

Grab YOUR Bonus HERE

Wiki Whisperer is a tool that I categorize as an advanced video marketing tool although it's simple to run and comprehend and has nothing directly to do with videos. In brief what it does for us is discover ultra effective backlinks Opportunities. Google enjoys Wikipedia and if you have direct backlinks from Wikipedia and Google automatically trust and treats you as an authority so it's for real experts in video marketing. Exactly what the software does for us is offers us domains that have direct links from Wikipedia pages where the domain has actually expired and can be gotten for the cost of a regular domain.

If you don't actually comprehend the worth of Wikipedia backlinks do a Google search on it. You'll see that individuals provide it as a service will charge you from sixty to a hundred dollars per backlink and with the wiki whisper software you're able to get those backlinks for less than 10 dollars plus because you own the domain. You're able to essentially multi-purpose those domain level backlinks on a much larger scale than those services are offering a much greater expenses so we're able to rapidly attain our objectives from a video ranking point of view when you're desiring to rank for a massively hard keyword rather of buying a number of fiber gigs to obtain a huge variety of trash backlinks that just helped a bit invest that ten dollars on a domain and use a single link that provides more power and authority that 10s of countless those silly little profile backlinks that everybody else is using sort of like having the power of a huge PBN, except at a fraction of the cost and with a lot more instant authority and trust from Google.

Together will rule the video marketing landscape. All right now-- let's walk through the software together so that you can see and comprehend the procedure. Wiki whisper is not just powerful it's also great enjoyable to have fun with I constantly discover cool little surprises.

So, let's walk through whatever and I'll get you up to speed. Your campaign name is your own individual identifier. It permits you to quickly pull up arise from previous project as all of your projects are conserved into a folder in your documents directory called wiki whisper. Your settings tab this is where your personal settings are gotten in. The software will not run until all the fields in the settings are occupied with your individual details: your name, your email your MOZ credentials and your license is all that's needed. Simply click the Save button you have two kinds of search options keywords and metrics. A lot of beginning level marketers will adhere to the keyword version since the software will find offered backlinks there in some way associated to your keywords. Just enter your keyword into the keyword area and run it. Utilizing the keyword search will always return fewer outcomes than the metrics browsed, I'm using the metrics option will get you a more comprehensive level of outcomes. This is something advanced users are going to be more comfy with because we understand that when it concerns wiki backlink it is really the page authority of the wiki page that is the real driving force for the results that we're after. When using the metrics alternative you do not need to go into any keywords. That choice doesn't utilize keywords at all. When it comes to your domain and page Authority settings, the higher you set any of these numbers, the lower number of results will be retrieved. It is fantastic if you want to be laser targeted on one particular thing, considering that it does all the filtering for you on the fly. The downside of filtering is that you can extremely quickly filter out some fantastic discovers that you have not even thought about before. Personally, I don't use the little sliders at all. I don't drink at all online. I'll leave them all set to a minimum, so it returns the absolute most outcomes. Which obviously indicates I'm presented with a lot more options. I can't inform you the number of times, I have run throughout remarkable metric sets that I would have never ever believed of however were surprisingly effective. One other note-- there's a lot going on behind the scenes in the software application and it's utilizing multi-threading thoroughly because of the multi threading the activity area simply can't maintain. So it might look like at some points the software application stuck, however it isn't really simply leave it alone and let it keep running as long as there's a little blue wave the image that's going on here the software application is doing what it's expected to do. So I'll say this once again simply to be clear, if you think the software application is stuck, it isn't really simply leave it alone let it do its thing. Now as far as where it's waiting I'm going to go on and open up one that I've done prior to so as you see the software application has actually provided me the domain it's offered me the statistics. It's offered me everything that I require in order to decide on whether I desire to buy that domain and use it as a back link. As far as any other settings that this requires that's all fully covered in the in the official tutorial that you'll get after you've made your purchase.
