Former Commerce City officer sentenced to probation

Former Commerce City Police Officer Kevin Lord was sentenced to three years probation and 500 hours of community service for falsely reporting he'd been shot following an incident last November. Lord was sentenced May 20 after pleading guilty to a sixth-degree felony count of tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanor false reporting for staging an incident in which he shot himself, and then claimed he had been shot by a suspect. Police and other law enforcement spent nearly two days searching for the fictional gunman.
